Avon was started in 1886 by David H. McConnell in a small room in New York. Today Avon has over 5 million agents in over 100 countries across the world. The majority of Avon products are directed towards women. Avon’s product lines include lipsticks foundation, bath and skin lotions, anti-aging cream, perfumes, as well as jewelry and clothing. Avon uses both door to door sales people and catalogs to advertise their products. In some markets Avon products are sold primarily in retail stores. China is the most notable example because they banned all door to door selling toward the end of 2006.
